TAI CHI – the ancient energy exercise

Tai chi consists of gentle, slow, repetitive movements of the body, arms and legs. The mind, body and breathing are coordinated in a rhythmic fashion. The focus is on integration of all our senses with our mind.

This is an ancient energy technique taught regularly in many countries

Since this is low impact activity, people are comfortable doing it and each person can perform at his or her own pace. It becomes even more joyful if other family members can join the practice.

The Course

  • The course consists of 8 one hour session , spread over 2 months
  • Any comfortable loose fitting dress is fine
  • Starts with warm ups
  • Progressively complex movements will be taught sequentially
  • Ends with close down& cooling down.
  • Certificate at the end of the course
  • Anybody, with any level of fitness can join
  • Course fees Rs 5000 total for 8 classes
  • Timings : Sundays only : 8 am – 9 am , 5 pm – 6 pm

  • Main class 2 hrs
  • follow up classes – 30 mins/ week x 10 weeks

  • Priniciples of Muscle tendon change
  • 12 isometric movements of Shaolin classic exercises
  • Stress points of each movement

What will be taught – follow up classes?

  • Re-inforcements of each movement
  • Corrections if needed

The Benefits

Advantages of using tendons instead of muscles?

  • Storing energy in tendon is comparable to compression of a spring.
  • Oxygen consumption is much less in tendons and fatiguability is very low.
  • This means you can achieve much more with very less effort.
  • At the same O2 consumption rate, kangaroos can move four times faster than dogs of the same weight.

Is there a method to strengthen our tendons?

Yes.The ancient Shaolin monks were taught the classic muscle tendon change by the revered Bodhidharma, an Indian prince. The teachings are still preserved today in the name of Yijingjin.

He is certified to teach 3 levels of Shibashi, 8 step Baduanjin, 24 form Taijichuan and Yijingchin ( muscle – tendon change ).
